Product Details

Material: Grade 8 Panama Shape: Safari Trim: 16-Ligne Grosgrain, Covered Crown Tip, Vom Baur Sweat, Teflon Coated. Brim: 2 1/4" Color: Natural, Putty The Panama hat also known as just Panama is an Ecuadorian hat made from the plaited leaves of the toquilla straw plant. These straw hats were shipped to panama on the 19th and 20th century to be delivered to many destinations around the world. The hat was known as the Panama hat for his trade origin and not for its Ecuadorian origin. Theodore Roosevelt wore one of these hats during his visit to the Panama Canal construction project and with it helped increase the Panama hat popularity. In Cuba these hats were very popular and many times you will see men wearing them together with their linen Guayaberas and Linen Suits. Panama hats are hand made, a process that may take up to 20 men hours depending on the thickness of the fabric and the complexity of the wave. Panama hats are light and beautiful looking summer hats. Enjoy!
